The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUPN), Nasarawa State Branch, says it would design roadmap on how backlog of gratuity can be reduced to members in no distance time.
This was disclosed during a recent election exercise organized to elect new EXCO to run the affairs of the union, which held at Ibrahim Abacha Youth Center, Lafia.
Comrade Danjuma Avre, who won the chairmanship of the union at the election, appealed to members to give the new exco maximum support and cooperation to enable it succeed in its campaign promises.
Declaring result of the election, chairman of the electoral committee, Comrade Asoloko Maku, announced Comrade Danjuma Avre as winner of the election, having scored highest of the total votes cast.
The newly elected chairman of NUPN appreciated members for the confidence reposed on him and other leaders, and work round- the-clock in ensuring the warfare of members at all times.
With regards to the issues of percentage payment of pensions, the chairman stated that, they will engage government on a round table dialogue with a view to putting a stop to the trend once and for all.
The chairmanship position was contested between Comrade Timothy Maji and Danjuma Avre. However, Comrade Maji and his team walked out of the election venue having foreseen their looming failure at the end of the tunnel.
