Catholic Bishop of Yola tests positive to Covid-19

The Catholic Bishop of Yola, Most Revd. Dr. Stephen Dami Mamza, who doubles as CAN Chairman of Adamawa State, has tested positive to COVID-19, Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed.

A press statement was issued on Sunday, 23rd August, 2020, confirming the NCDC results, and announced that the Bishop has decided to go into total isolation and has since started receiving treatment. Bishop Mamza also happens to a member of the Adamawa State COVID-19 committee.

According to him, “One lesson that I want people to appreciate and understand is that, everybody has to make himself available for testing, if need be.”

While expressing delight that, testing positive for the virus was not a death sentence, Bishop Mamza urged people to pray for him and all, who tested positive.

The Bishop further urged the general public to comply with the COVID-19 preventive protocols seriously, in order to help stop the spread of the pandemic.
