The Plateau State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has assured of its commitment for a peaceful conduct of its forthcoming primary election to elect a standard flag bearer for the Southern Senatorial Zone in the by-election coming up in October, 2020.
The state caretaker committee, headed by Gwott Yakubu Chocho, has been enthusiastic towards uniting its leaders, critical stakeholders and members across the state, by which the party is gaining massive popularity by the day.
“We commend all our aspirants for their resilience and collective commitment to ensuring that they work together in unity for the progress of the party during and after the election,” Chocho cautioned.
He also appreciated all their party supporters across the state for their commitments gearing towards the party’s victory, adding that, “With the present leadership’s commitment and goodwill across the state, the party is confident of winning all elections as we are aware of the great expectations of the people of plateau state on us to move the state to a higher level of development and greatness.”
While assuring members of “total victory for the party,” starting from October’s senatorial by-election, Gwott Chocho appealed to all leaders, critical stakeholders and members to come together and work for the common good of their people, irrespective of their individual interests, saying, “The party’s interest must be the priority of all and sundry, which supersedes all (other) interests.”
He further called on all stakeholders to embrace peace and unite for the progress of the party in the state and for the interest of the people, saying “As leaders, we all have a responsibility to unite, not to divide; to build, not to destroy; to serve, not to rule, and to give, not to take. As such, we should show more dedication in uniting the people rather than dividing them.”
The chairman also called on members to continue in supporting “this positive thinking and mission” for a better PDP and Plateau state. “The time has come when action of unity is required than division. Remember, we shall all stand at the bar of history, knowing full well that the responsibility to build the party lies on our shoulders,” Gwott Chocho noted.
