A volunteer group of the ‘Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp’ has given a “pass mark” to the Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, Shehu Bala Usman, for his support and sustainability in the payment of the LGC’s monthly stipends.
Presenting a portrait to the chairman and other local government officials in his office at the council secretariat during the week, leader of the volunteers, Jossica Jov, said the gesture was part of their little way to appreciate him and his management.
The volunteer group of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp serving in Jos North local government had spent twenty-four (24) months without being paid their stipends.
The group noted that, with the coming of Usman Shehu Bala as management committee chairman of the council, the LGC came to their rescue by sustaining the payment of their monthly stipends.
Jossica Jov described the appointment of the chairman by Governor Simon Lalong as “the right step in the right direction,” while citing from the Holy Bible, which says, ‘the laborer is worthy of his wages.’
She noted that the chairman has fulfilled the biblical injunction, and prayed for God’s guidance as he takes the local government to the next level.
Responding, the committee chairman, Shehu Bala Usman, appreciated the good working relationship with the various security agencies since his appointment. He described the volunteers as “partners in peace building,” and commended them for their patience in the discharging of their duties even without salaries.
He stressed that his administration will continue to prioritize the welfare of the volunteers and staff of the council to ensure efficient and effective service delivery for the good of the local government and the state.
