Blood-bath as armed robbers kill 8 policemen, woman in Kogi

Dare-devil armed robbers have reportedly attacked a police station and bank in Isanlu, the headquarters of Yagba East local government of Kogi state, killing 8 policemen, including the Divisional Police Officer and a woman in the process.

An eye witness said the robbery gang, whose numbers are yet to be ascertained,  stormed the said police station around 12:15 pm on Thursday, and opened fire,  killing all the occupants.

The source also said with the aid of improvised explosive devices, the robbers destroyed the police station and made away with many guns and bullets.

Thereafter, the said robbers that operated in the town for hours proceeded to a branch of First Bank in the town and killed a yet to be undefined woman and carted away an undisclosed sum of money.

The state police command has confirmed the robbery incident, saying that the authority has drafted men of the anti robbery squad to the area.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Williams Aya, the police command has been informed of the ugly incident, but is yet to get the details, stressing that “enough measures” have been taken to apprehend the culprits.
