Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state has reportedly demolished a popular beer joint located opposite Command Secondary School in Kaduna South local government, raising surprises.
Eyewitness and security man, who spoke to our correspondent under anonymity, said government official led by four Hilux vehicle loaded with security operatives were responsible for the demolition, which occurred around 4pm on Friday.
The source said though, the government agent, who ordered demolition of the building immediately on arrival at the scene, did not give any reason for their action.
The security man, however, expressed dismay, saying they’ve never opened or operated the joint since the commencement of the lockdown as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the government official granted his permission and plea to wait for him to inform his boss before the demolition, but lamented that all his efforts to get his master on phone failed due one problem or the other.
He however noted that immediately after the demolition, the commissioner for internal security and home affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, came to the site of the building.
He also revealed that Governor El-Rufai drove past through the area a day before the incident.
Efforts to reach El-Rufai’s media aid, Muyiwa Adekeye, through his phone were unsuccessful, as he could neither pick call nor respond to texts.
