Nasarawa State Government has disclosed that, “All 788 Almajiri evacuated (from Nasarawa) to other states have arrived safely and in good health, just as we plan to commence the second-phase of the evacuation exercise.”
The Nasarawa state governor, Abdullahi Sule, disclosed this, while condemning media reports on Taraba State Government as rejecting Almajiri from his state for fear of COVID-9 pandemic.
According to him, “It is very unfortunate that some media didn’t verify their source before going to the press. The claim was that, Taraba State authorities were not fully communicated with as to the arrival of Almajiri into the state.
“Immediately I got the information, I quickly called my colleague, His Excellency, Ishaku Darius, and now it’s confirmed they have been received in the state.
“It may also interest you to note that, we have received more than 50 Almajiri from low-risk states in the north,” Governor Yahaya stated.
The governor declared that “All returnees were citizens of Lafia local government area and were kept in a holding center at Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic, Lafia. After examining them, we will release them to their parents.”
