by Christiana Gokyo, Jos

The Management Committee Chairman of Jos North local government area, Shehu Usman, has felicitated with Muslim faithful in the local government for witnessing the commencement of yet another Ramada fasting.

He urged the Islamic faithful to use the period to pray relentlessly during the fasting period for Allah’s mercy to end the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the whole world.

A statement to this effect was signed and issued to Conscience Triumph in Jos by Philip Eplong, who is Senior Information Officer for Chairman Jos North Local Government.

The chairman enjoined Muslims in the area to use the month-long fasting period to also pray for peace of the area, the state and the country at large.

He noted that, “Sacrifice and increase in prayers are important and critical at this time when the world is fighting a vicious coronavirus pandemic. It is regrettable that Muslims in Jos North Local Government Area and across the country cannot observe the Ramada the way they have been used to over the years; the situation should only be seen as part of the sacrifice we all have to make at this time.”

The chairman further enjoined citizens in the area to see this as reflection of sober mood the world has been thrown into due to the pandemic.

He admonished Muslims in the area to tune their minds to the messages of love, brotherliness and peaceful co-existence inherent in the messages of the Holy Prophet, while also being their brothers’ keepers, and urged them to continue to join hands with government to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The chairman wished the Islamic faithful a success fasting period, while praying to God to grant everyone the needed strength.
