JOS – Grand Cereals like its parent company, UACN Plc, seeks to improve the socio-economic well-being of its operating environment and had always been committed to contribute positively to its community projects and initiatives with lasting and meaningful impact.
In their contributions to the community, a 1000-seater capacity Hall was built for Zawan community by Grand Cereals parent-company, UACN Plc, and Grand Cereals Limited and has been commissioned and presented to the community.
This feat was made known by Acting Group CEO of UACN Plc, Mrs Omolara Elemide, who was represented by Joseph Ibrahim Dada, stating that the project commenced in 2016 under the leadership of Grand Cereals Managing Director, late Mr. Layi Oyatoki, who unfortunately could not witness its completion and commissioning.
According her, over the years the Company carved a niche as a strong player in the agriculture value chain in Nigeria, working with farmers and employing the most recent technology and processes in the conversion of locally-sourced raw materials into acclaimed brands of superior value.
She said, the company produces leading brands such as heart-friendly Grand Pure Soya Oil and Vital brand of Poultry, Fish and other small animal feeds, the farmers’ vital choice for better profit.
Mrs Elemide further explained that by touching lives in the way of embarking and executing CSR initiatives that are locally relevant and services as well as their social responsibility, every year in UACN, they have impacted the lives of people in their immediate communities and beyond.
“We work to improve the quality of life in the community where we operate by focusing especially on education, nourishment, socio-cultural development and sustainability,” she stated.
Speaking earlier, President of Zawan Development Association, Dr. Victor Chung Pam, said they would do everything possible within the ambits and ambience of the law that is required of them as a community to ensure that GCOML is on the Global Forbes 500, a list of five hundred of the most capitalized companies in the world.
He assured that, “The community will do everything within our powers as a community to ensure that the fortunes of GCOML only rise and never fall,” and assured to do their best to strive to ensure that they will not fritter away all the goodwill that has been showered upon their community from their organization.
The state governor, Simon Lalong, while responding, urged the community to use “it and keep it safe” and called on other companies to emulate Grand Cereals Limited, in providing some basic amenities in every community.
