Barely 3 days, following a recent attack in Barkin-Ladi of Plateau state, where about 5 people were killed and two injured, who were said to be returning from a birthday party in Pugu Village of Barikin-Ladi local government council of the state, unidentified gunmen on Sunday opened fire in a civilian suburb near the Plateau State National Youth Service Orientation Camp, killing two.
Investigation reports that the gunmen reportedly stormed the area on motorcycles at about dusk, zooming off after few minutes of sporadic gunfire.
Conscience Triumph gathered that two young men, identified as Mr. Abba and Mr. Mohammed, were said to be the ones killed. However, at the time of filling this report, it is not yet clear what might have informed the attack.
The Plateau State Police Command is yet to respond to enquiries on the incident as of the time of publishing this report.
The Police Command had earlier issued a statement on the attack in Barikin-Ladi, which stated that, “On the 27/12/2018, at about 0800hrs, the Plateau State Police Command received information from Kim Timothy the Youth Leader of Rawuru Village, Fan District in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, that on the 26/12/2018, at about 2115hrs, some unknown gunmen attacked some people when they were returning from a birthday party from Pugu Village. As a result of the attack, five people were killed and two were injured.”
The statement was signed by the Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Matthias T. Terna. The five persons, who lost their lives have since been buried, while the two injured are currently receiving treatment at the General Hospital Barkin-Ladi.
The Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, Jos, CP Austin I. Agbonlahor, has directed for the immediate commencement of investigation in the case to identify and arrest the perpetrators to face the full wrath of the law.
