The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Zonal Command in-charge of Kaduna, Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States on Thursday trained its provost officers on enforcement of discipline, investigation and security management.
The Zonal Provost Officer, who is Chief Route Commander, Musa Shehu, said at the opening of the training in Kaduna that the training was to improve service discipline and enhance professionalism.
Shehu said that a recent performance assessment placed the zone among the zones with poor discipline record, adding that the training was key in turning the situation around.
“The workshop is designed to reawaken the provost officers to live up to their responsibility and ensure discipline and professional conduct among all FRSC personnel in the zone.
“We hope that at the end of the day, we will all go back to our respective commands and units with new knowledge, skills and renewed commitment to ensure sanity in the conduct of FRSC personnel in the zone,” he said.
Also speaking, the Zonal Commander, Assistant Corps Marshal Abayomi Omiyale, described the workshop as key in curbing the alarming rate of indiscipline among officers and marshals in the zone.
Omiyale, who was represented by Corps Commander Crawford Oti, the zone’s Head of Operations, said that skills on investigation and security management would make the provost office respond more efficiently to issues of indiscipline.
He said that the zone would continue to organise training periodically to update the skills of personnel for effective service delivery and professionalism.
Omiyale promised that the zonal command would wait for the resolution that would emanate from the workshop for implementation.
